I've been participating in the Whimsy Fiction Writing contest, and I think that a lot of people here would like their prompts. Their focus in on the whimsical and putting unlike things together. The contest has a broad theme and then a couple of "whims" or more specific prompts connected to the theme that you can pick from and then a unique object to you.

https://www.whimsyfiction.com/how-it-works
Rules: https://www.whimsyfiction.com/how-it-works

I was sold especially when I saw an alpaca on a feather. (I will be participating through December) The art in this contest is so great.

Oh another note, I am not sure if I can consistently write whimsy? Lol. Everything that I have turned into the contest has turned darker than intended. Lol.

How do you all identify "whimsy?"

I had been creating this site as a neutral place to talk about WB and other contests, I wasn't trying to replace their forum. I am sad because-- though I didn't contribute much recently-- I regularly checked in to read it.
Thoughts? Feelings to process?

EDIT to make this nicer!

Before I joined WB (sometime in 2025) a "pro" WB judge was allegedly caught using AI to judge entries and provide feedback. (The pro judged contests used to give actual written feedback?!)

I'm salty to know there were writers having their work pasted into the Borg without their permission, with no compensation (that I know about). I am even more salty that instead of fixing the problem, it appears the "solution" was to abolish written feedback from the pro judges, which negates any way to detect if the WB pro judges are currently using AI.

When running a business and taking people's money, there should be a level of transparency and accountability.
